This position works under thedirection and supervision of the classroom teacher in the Sarah Dooley Center for Autism servingchildren with a variety of special needs. Working in a collaborative, teambased model, the Counselor works with selected students to implement individuallesson and behavioral plans. Work is performed using a systems approach thatfollows the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and other evidence-basedteaching methods. Under the direction and supervision of a Treatment Specialist, Program Manager, or Program Director, provides direct care for assigned clients in a therapeutic after school, in-home, weekend respite, and summer program serving children ages 5 – 22 with behavioral and emotional challenges and with cognitive or developmental delays. All work is performed within a systems-based framework and a psycho-educational model. Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Community Based Services and Clinical Supervisor of In-Home Behavioral Treatment, the Autism In-Home Counselor (IHBT) delivers treatment services to program clients and their families within the policies and procedures of St. Joseph’s Villa. The Autism In-Home Clinician (IHBT) is responsible for the coordination of an overall written program of services, implementation of treatment interventions in relationship to Individual Service Plans for clients, and providing direct professional services to clients and their families. The position focuses upon development of an individualized treatment and behavior plan and implementation of this service in a home-based treatment modality to ensure quality services to clients and their families. The treatment provided is based in behavioral and positive theoretical orientations, and considers intellectual, developmental, and emotional delays in the client population. Counseling services are provided with a holistic and family oriented focus. The Autism In-Home Counselor performs all work safely, in accordance with the highest professional ethical standards, and in alignment with Saint Joseph’s Villa mission, values, and guiding principles.

Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Recreation Services, this position is responsible for providing assistance with instruction in the area of Health and Physical Education following the curriculum set forth by the Virginia Department of Education.  The Instructional Health and Physical Education (HPE) Assistant provides instruction support to all students at Dooley School, Dooley Center for Alternative Education, and Sarah Dooley Center for Autism.  The Instructional HPE Assistant is responsible for students K-12th Grade.  The Health and Physical Education Instructional Assistant helps to provide students with the knowledge, processes, and skills to become physically fit and responsible in their choices in physical activity and behaviors for a lifetime.  The Instructional HPE Assistant contributes in instruction of the five standard areas: Skilled Movement; Movement Principles and Concepts; Personal Fitness; Responsible Behavior, and Physically Active Lifestyle.
