Overview

St. Joseph's Villa is seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Director to lead our growing Outpatient Behavioral Therapy (ABA) program. Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Clinical Director is responsible for the clinical oversight, quality, and strategic growth of outpatient behavioral therapy services.

This leader will oversee all clinical aspects of the program, including assessments, treatment planning, clinical supervision, staff development, service delivery, and community outreach. The Clinical Director will initially provide direct clinical services and conduct assessments while supporting referral development. As the program expands, the role will assume increasing responsibility for staffing, training, operational oversight, and program growth.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and oversee clinical standards, policies, and best practices across outpatient ABA services.
  • Supervise and determine the appropriate level of care and clinical interventions for individuals served.
  • Develop or oversee the development of behavior intervention and treatment plans, goals, and clinical strategies.
  • Analyze behavioral data and clinical outcomes to ensure effective, individualized services.
  • Facilitate treatment team meetings and interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Ensure high-quality clinical services are delivered to individuals and their families.

Program Oversight

  • Oversee all clinical documentation from referral through discharge, ensuring compliance with licensing, accreditation, insurance, and organizational standards.
  • Maintain compliance with state licensure requirements, funding source regulations, and agency policies.
  • Support licensing, certification, and accreditation activities, including preparation, monitoring, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and program standards that promote excellence and regulatory compliance.

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and retain high-quality clinical staff.
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to BCBAs, BCaBAs, and other clinical team members.
  • Ensure staff are trained in evidence-based interventions and required clinical competencies.
  • Develop and coordinate in-service trainings and professional development opportunities.
  • Evaluate staffing levels, workflows, and training needs, recommending improvements to support program effectiveness.

Financial and Performance Management

  • Partner with the Senior Director to develop and manage the annual operating budget.
  • Establish and monitor clinical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and productivity expectations.
  • Monitor billable hour requirements for clinical staff and ensure personal productivity standards are met.
  • Collaborate with billing and operations teams to maximize authorization utilization and ensure documentation meets payer requirements.
  • Maintain statistical, evaluative, and financial reports as required.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Develop caregiver training curricula and oversee implementation by the clinical team.
  • Meet with families and community partners to review progress and provide guidance for continued success outside of treatment.
  • Promote strong parent and community relationships through education, outreach, and advocacy.
  • Collaborate with schools, providers, and community agencies to ensure continuity of care and expand access to services.
  • Represent St. Joseph's Villa positively within the community and actively promote program growth.

Strategic Growth

  • Assist in strategic planning initiatives, including expansion of outpatient services and future clinic locations.
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancement and community partnerships.
  • Support referral development and maintain relationships with referral sources.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in staff meetings, leadership meetings, and organizational initiatives.
  • Assume on-call responsibilities as assigned.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and remain current with developments in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing.
  • Eligible for or currently licensed to practice in Virginia, if applicable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience providing ABA services.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising BCBAs, BCaBAs, and behavioral support staff.
  • Knowledge of ABA principles, behavior assessment methodologies, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience with insurance authorization processes, documentation requirements, and clinical compliance standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading an outpatient ABA clinic or behavioral health program.
  • Experience with program expansion and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Virginia Medicaid and commercial insurance requirements for ABA services.
  • Experience with accreditation and licensing processes.
