Under the direction and guidance of the Senior Director of Housing and Homeless Services for Flagler Services, the Director of CACH leads the work of the Crater Area Coalition on Homelessness (CACH) Continuum of Care (CoC). This role provides strategic leadership to advance the shared goal of ending homelessness across the Crater Region, which includes the cities of Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, and Emporia, and the counties of Dinwiddie, Surry, Sussex, Greenville, and Prince George.
The Director serves as a bridge between CACH, its Board and membership, St. Joseph’s Villa (the current Lead Agency and Local Planning Agency), and the broader community. This position focuses on system coordination, capacity building, community engagement, and alignment with best practices at the state and national level, including the Virginia Balance of State (BOS).
The Director of CACH is an employee of St. Joseph’s Villa and receives day-to-day supervision from the Lead Agency while working in close partnership with the CACH Board and Senior Director to fulfill the CACH Strategic Plan.
Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction to the CACH Local Planning Group
Build and maintain partnerships with government entities, funders, service providers, and community stakeholders
Strengthen CACH capacity by increasing the size, diversity, and engagement of coalition membership
Provide system-level oversight of the Coordinated Entry process
Support the work of the CACH Board and its committees
Represent CACH at community events, meetings, and regional or state-level functions
Lead and support initiatives including the CACH Strategic Plan, implementation of best practices, and participation in the Built for Zero initiative
Support Lead Agency responsibilities including the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count, Housing Inventory Count (HIC), and required reporting
Provide and/or facilitate training and technical assistance to funded agencies and prospective CoC partners
Identify service gaps within the CoC and support strategies to build system capacity
Serve as a community expert and advocate on homelessness-related issues, trends, and best practices
Provide direct supervision to the Homeless Systems Navigator
Oversee CACH communications, including social media, annual reports, and newsletters
Perform other related duties as assigned
Master’s degree in human services or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant experience considered
Persons with lived experience of homelessness are strongly encouraged to apply
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience required
Leadership experience in a nonprofit or government setting preferred
Experience with grant or report writing, program evaluation, community or coalition organizing, program development, and board support preferred
Strong technological proficiency, including experience using and interpreting data from HMIS dashboards and other system coordination tools
Comfort delivering presentations to diverse stakeholder groups
Supervisory or volunteer management experience preferred
Valid Virginia driver’s license with an excellent driving record required
