JOB SUMMARY

 

The Behavior Interventionist is responsible for on-going assessment of students’ behavioral needs, designing appropriate behavior plans, and supporting classroom staff in determining effective means to facilitate positive behavioral change attending Dooley School at St. Joseph’s Villa.

 

 

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates as an active member in a team approach to the delivery of services to students
  • Assists Treatment Specialist in coordinating and participating in the treatment teams for his/her service, with treatment decisions and with follow-through of those decisions
  • Provides consultation to teachers and other faculty regarding implementation of behavior plans
  • Oversees training on and implementation of the behavior management system including level advancement of each student
  • Monitors progress and accurate data collection of behavior management system to evaluate its effectiveness
  • Works with other staff (teachers, Resource Team) with students in crisis, providing support and reinforcement of sound behavioral strategies and plans
  • Uses approved behavior management interventions to work with all students
  • Provides professional psycho-educational services to students and their families individually and in groups on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Participates in the development of progress/evaluation reports on students
  • Maintains sight and sound supervision
  • Advises Principal and/or other management team members of any performance issues in the classroom, whether student or faculty
  • Works with team to identify student’s needs in alignment with appropriate interventions, strategies and services to include recommendations substantiated by supporting data

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 or more years of experience with relevant population or equivalent experience of 4 or more years with children with behavioral or developmental disabilities preferably in special education setting.
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license and good driving record.
