Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic II works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Facilities Management to ensure that all buildings, systems, and grounds are properly maintained. This role requires a versatile skill set in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural repair, along with a commitment to safety, teamwork, and the mission of St. Joseph’s Villa.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural repairs (masonry, woodwork, glass, sheetrock, plaster, furnishings) and painting of interior and exterior spaces.
Maintain and repair utility systems, including electrical wiring, controls, HVAC, steam boilers, steam piping, and refrigeration systems.
Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled.
Maintain and repair roofs, eaves, and rooftop ventilation systems.
Service and repair vehicles, tractors, lawn mowers, and motorized equipment.
Operate building automation software for HVAC controls.
Conduct preventive maintenance (lubrication, filter changes, calibration, coil and vent cleaning).
Maintain campus grounds, including trees, shrubbery, fences, gates, walls, and walkways.
Pick up and deliver donated furniture and large items; move furniture and equipment as needed.
Ensure safe work practices, high ethical standards, and compliance with regulatory/accrediting requirements.
Attend staff meetings, training programs, and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma preferred.
Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record required.
Minimum 2 years of related maintenance/mechanical experience.
Proficiency in Windows, Outlook, and proprietary software.
Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of mechanical trade tools, methods, and materials.
Ability to diagnose and repair recurring equipment issues in a cost-effective manner.
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Working knowledge of electrical wiring, electronic controls, and flow systems.
Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs., work at heights, underground, and in all weather conditions.
