Overview

Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Clinical Services, the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) Clinician works with children ages 5 – 17 years old.  Specific responsibilities include providing direct clinical services to clients, ensuring that all clinical work is done in line with the client’s specific treatment goals and coordinating all treatment efforts within a team model. 

 

All work is performed within a systems-based framework with strong collaboration skills with and in support of other services offered by St. Joseph's Villa, in accordance with the highest professional ethical standards, and in alignment with Saint Joseph’s Villa mission, values, and guiding principles.

Responsibilities

Provides emergency screening of clients referred by the Community Service Boards (CSB) in need of crisis stabilization services

 

Conducts individual, group and family therapy as identified in client’s treatment plan

 

Actively involves client and family in treatment planning and services

 

Implements and monitors a comprehensive stabilization and rapid discharge plan for each client

 

Participates in staff meetings, community meetings, and other staff and program group activities that support the operation of the CSU

 

Promotes good parent and community relations and appropriately assesses services for appropriate wrap around services to support quality of life for person’s served

 

Meets with family members and relevant agencies to advise on clients’ progress and teach them techniques to continue behavioral changes outside the supported setting

 

Continually assesses formally and informally clients’ needs and progress

 

Actively participates in treatment teams

 

Transports clients to the CSU when appropriate

 

  

Designs appropriate interventions for each client.

 

Ensures staff is trained in selected intervention techniques and therapeutic services are implemented in a coordinated manner

 

Consults with internal and outside parties to ensure client receives best treatment available

 

Maintains documentation of the highest quality and in keeping with licensing and accreditation standards

 

Reviews documentation to ensure quality service delivery and coordinated efforts. Participates in client-related meetings as necessary

 

Works within a team model

 

Ensures timely and appropriate communications between all relevant parties, e.g. team members and professionals

 

Maintains all appropriate client service documentation from referral through discharge and aftercare

 

Supports Villa efforts in licensing, certification, and accreditation issues, including attainment, documentation and compliance monitoring

 

Follows established procedures to report serious incidents and suspected abuse and/or neglect, and responds to charges of inappropriate treatment

 

Ensures accurate and complete individual case records for clients in compliance with licensing and accreditation standards and best practices

 

Works with all staff to ensure a safe, clean and therapeutically sound environment

 

Treats all information in a confidential manner, complying with professional ethical standards, Villa policies, and federal, state, and local regulations

 

Evaluates work processes and methods; staffing levels, qualifications and training needs; tools, equipment and physical resources; and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement

 

Assumes responsibility for own professional development including meeting all mandated standards and staying abreast of developments within the field

 

Assumes regular on-call responsibilities

 

Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

MS degree in human service related field. LPC or LCSW preferred - eligibility for LPC or LCSW licensure required. Three or more years of experience with relevant population.  Assessment skills. Proficiency with Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet research.  Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.  Public speaking and presentation skills.
