Under the direction and guidance of the Director, this position is responsible for assisting the Director in all aspects of managing the Sarah Dooley Center for Autism to include areas such as staffing, budgeting, marketing, developing curricula, providing behavioral support, and liaising with internal and external entities. All work is performed in a collaborative, shared leadership model.
All work is performed within a systems-based framework and a psycho-educational model with an emphasis on applied behavior analytic methodology. Work is performed collaboratively with and in support of other services offered by St. Joseph's Villa. Work is performed safely, effectively, to the highest ethical standards, and in accordance with St. Joseph’s Villa’s mission, values, and guiding principles.
Supports the administrative team in the development and implementation of an applied behavior analytic based education model with a strong emphasis on community involvement and engagement.
Assists the Director in direct day-to-day activities of the program’s staff to include training, discipline, evaluation, motivation, and recommendation for promotion or discharge.
Assists with strategic planning for the program. Maintains evaluative and statistical data; prepares monthly, annual, and other reports as required.
Assist Director of SDCA and work collaboratively with the Education Coordinator in overseeing teaching activities and curriculum development and assists teachers to improve their ability to meet each child’s needs.
Communicates with parents or guardians, on a regular basis, to provide updates and to learn of children’s progress and concerns.
In conjunction with Director, participates in all decisions affecting the admission of clients or discharge of a client who has been inappropriately placed in the program.
Assists Director with the development and oversight of the program’s annual budget, implementation of marketing plans to maintain budgeted population and oversight of program’s policies and procedures.
Represents SDCA in meetings and activities contributing to the management and operation of St. Joseph’s Villa in the area of Special Education and Alternative Education.
Evaluates work processes and methods; staffing levels, qualifications and training needs; and tools, equipment, and physical resources and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
Assumes responsibility for own professional development including meeting all mandated standards and staying abreast of developments within the field.
Ensures that staff receives training to meet mandated standards, that develops their professional abilities, and that prepares them for advancement opportunities.
Completes monthly file audits for compliance and reports findings to Director.
Works collaboratively with the Operations Coordinator and Education Coordinator to insure all incoming and outgoing requests for information via phone, fax, mail, and e-mail are responded to in a timely and professional manner.
Maintains knowledge of curricular materials. Available for consultation with teaching staff regarding location, acquisition, and appropriateness of specific materials.
Maintains the safety, cleanliness, and comfort level of the facility to include the management of all facility repair and maintenance request.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BS/BA degree in Education, Human Services, or a related field plus three (3) to five (5) years of related experience with one (1) year of management experience.
Master’s Degree and BCBA Preferred.
Knowledge of Behavior Analytic methodology and practices (preferred ABA experience in educational settings)
Proficient with Windows, Outlook, internet research, and MS Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Experience with proprietary software preferred.
Valid VA Driver’s License and excellent driving record.
