Under the direction and guidance of the Day Treatment Clinical Supervisor, responsible for implementation of clients’ treatment from the time of the referral and admission; formal and informal assessments; treatment planning and implementation; crises intervention to discharge planning and aftercare. Guides the work of counselors in a team based environment recommending counseling and training for counselors. Coordinates treatment with all relevant resources. Provides clinical input and consults with Management Team regarding clinical activities including areas affecting program development and success, staff, training, licensure, and supervision. Advocates for the clients and the Villa in the community.
All work is performed within a systems-based framework using a psycho-educational and cognitive-behavioral model, adhering to the highest professional ethic standard and in compliance with St. Joseph’s Villa’s mission, values and guiding principles.
Assesses the relevant bio-psycho-social components of clients throughout the referral and admission process using appropriate assessment tools for population served (to include authorizations, etc.)
Reviews and interprets admission information presented from outside sources such as schools, psychologists, physicians, social workers, and employers to gain full understanding of clients’ capabilities and needs and incorporates same into treatment plans.
Analyzes and documents behavioral patterns and needs for each client.
Designs appropriate level of care and interventions for each client. Ensures counselors are trained in selected intervention techniques.
Conducts individual and group therapeutic sessions as determined by individual treatment plans and group milieu.
Meets with family members and relevant agencies to advise on clients’ progress and teach them techniques to continue behavioral changes outside the supported setting.
Consults with internal and outside parties to ensure client receives best treatment available.
Maintains all appropriate client service documentation from referral through discharge and aftercare.
Liaises and participates with community resources (such as VA-LEND) and trainings as appropriate.
Coordinates with management team to develop and present in-service trainings to improve staff competencies in clinical and therapeutic interventions.
Consults with management team when support through the Villa is not sufficient for the client and initiates the referral process. Supports management team through referrals to other community-based or individual support programs.
Meets with community agencies, physicians, schools, and mental health boards to advocate on behalf of the clients and the Villa.
Participates in community-wide programs that assist or advocate for the clients such as public and private agencies.
Supports Villa efforts in licensing, certification, and accreditation issues: attainment, documenting and monitoring compliance.
Follows established procedures to report serious incidents and suspected abuse and/or neglect. Responds to charges of inappropriate treatment.
Refers clients to community-based services to augment Villa services and support as appropriate.
Ensures appropriate planning and implementation of aftercare services.
Provides direction and support to interns to enhance their exposure to and experience with relevant client populations.
Ensures accurate and complete individual case records for clients in compliance with licensing and accreditation standards for best practice.
Works with all staff to ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutically sound environment.
Supports clients in special events such as holiday parties, fund-raisers and graduations.
Supervises daily activities of staff and interns working directly with clients such as teachers, youth counselors, case managers. Makes recommendations for their hiring, scheduling, training, discipline, promotion, or termination.
Treats all information in a confidential manner, complying with professional ethical standards, Villa policies, and federal, state, and local regulations.
Evaluates work processes and methods; staffing levels, qualifications and training needs; and tools, equipment, and physical resources and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement to management team or designee
Assumes responsibility for own professional development including meeting all mandated standards and staying abreast of developments within the field.
Assumes regular on-call responsibilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
