The Kitchen Helper, under the direction and supervision of the Culinary Services Supervisor or Lead Cook, is responsible for keeping kitchen, equipment, and linens clean and assisting with food preparation and delivery according to established procedures. All work is performed collaboratively with and in support of other services offered by St. Joseph's Villa.

Washes dishes, pots, pans after meal preparation and serving.
Cleans floors; washes and irons linens; cleans tables, chairs, sinks and other furniture and equipment; empties trash; replaces light bulbs; or performs other cleaning tasks as needed to ensure a sanitary environment.
Maintains the kitchen area and equipment in a sanitary manner.
Prepares meals for clients, staff, and/or visitors according to the established menu.
Keeps inventory of food items. Stocks shelves.
Complies with all health regulations, USDA requirements, OSHA standards, and St. Joseph’s Villa’s policies in the preparation or, serving, or disposal of food.
Transports food around campus using assigned vehicle. Collects and cleans food containers after meals. May set up and clean steam tables.
Reports any malfunction with kitchen equipment and vehicles to Culinary Services Supervisor or his/her designee.
May serve clients, staff, or guests as directed.
May assume Cook responsibilities as assigned.
Evaluates work processes and methods and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
Attends scheduled training programs for professional development that includes, at a minimum, trainings required by St. Joseph’s Villa and by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
High school diploma
Ability to read and write at a competency level to perform assigned tasks.
One year of experience working in a food service environment.
